Linking Emails to Tasks

Linking emails to tasks in Double.

Updated this week

When you add a task from an email in Double, you’re linking the email to the task.

Attachments, email content, and context stay connected, helping you work faster without duplicating effort.

  • No need to manually re-attach files; Double keeps everything linked

  • Quick reference back to the original email from the task itself

Creating a task from the Inbox

Clicking "+ Add task" at the top right of the email will prompt the task creation modal.

Email tasks

When creating a task from an email:

  • The linked email appears at the bottom of the task creation modal.

  • Clicking it opens the full email view, without leaving the task flow.

You’ll now see a visual “linked email” pill

  • The task itself (once created)

  • Any task view where that email connection is relevant

This makes it easier to reference the original email without digging through your inbox.

FAQs

One-Time "+ Add task" message

The first time you click “Add Task” on an email, you’ll see a quick message explaining what’s happening behind the scenes:

  • The email is now linked to your task.

  • Attachments remain accessible via the linked email.

  • You don’t need to download and re-upload files.

After this, the modal won’t appear again.
