Double's bidirectional sync requires a QuickBooks Online, Sage, or Xero connection to a ledger, but Double can still be used as a task manager and Client Portal for unconnected clients.
Unconnected clients will have access to their own closes, tasks, and Client Portal, and will remain listed in the dashboard.
Without a QuickBooks Online or Xero connection, the following features are unavailable:
Running file review reports
Reviewing and editing transaction data
Generating management reports
Transaction questions
Billing Note
Unconnected clients do not count toward the total client count for billing purposes and will not incur additional charges.
Note: Uninstalling the Double app from within QuickBooks or Xero will not convert a connected client to an unconnected client. While it will disrupt the integration, it does not sever the connection between Double and the ledger, and the client will remain on the bill.
To avoid being charged, the client must be fully archived from within Double.
To manually remove a client from your billing, you have to delete them or archive them. If the client was previously archived and then you re-activate them, their connection will be restored.
Adding a new unconnected client
To add an unconnected client, go to the top of the Client List dashboard,
Select Add Client
Choose Unconnected at the top of the pop-up
Select Add Unconnected Client.
This can be helpful, especially for new client onboardings, establishing a client setup in Double before integrating their ledger.
Connecting existing clients to QuickBooks or Xero files
Unconnected clients can be converted to QuickBooks/Xero-integrated clients by clicking the "Connect Ledger" button at the top of the Close page.
Client status column
Adding a Client Status column to your Client List is a great way to see which clients are Connected, Archived, or Unconnected.
Add the Client Status column by selecting Add/Remove Columns, and enable Client Status
Once the Client Status column is enabled, it will show up to the right of all of your listed clients on the Client List. You'll see that QuickBooks and Xero-integrated clients will show up with their own identifiers and will show as Connected.
Go to Practice Settings
Select All client settings
Navigate to the Archived tab
Enable/Disable Show archived clients on the client list
Applying special filters
You can search your Client List to show three Types of clients: QuickBooks Online and Xero-integrated, and Unconnected clients.
To filter for all unconnected clients:
Select Special Filters
Choose Unconnected
This will filter your client list to show all clients that are currently not integrated with a QuickBooks Online or Xero file.
