Quarterly Clients

How to set clients to quarterly close cycles in Double.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Quarterly Clients

Clients whose books are reviewed only on a quarterly basis can be marked as Quarterly Clients.

Quarterly Clients are prompted to start new closes only on a quarterly schedule (for example, Q1 in the March close, Q2 in the June close, etc.).

To convert a monthly close client to quarterly

  1. Go to Practice Settings (βš™οΈ icon)

  2. Select All Client Settings

  3. Enable under the Quarterly column

Non-calendar fiscal years

Quarterly closes take QuickBooks' fiscal years into consideration, so users will be prompted to start a quarterly close on their designated close cycle.

For example, a client whose fiscal year starts in September will have the following quarterly closes: November, February, May, August.

πŸ’‘ Check the Fiscal Year by going to the Client Settings in the client file.

Best Practices

When a new client is added to Double, the current month’s close is populated by default.

If the quarterly setting has just been enabled and a monthly close is still present:

  • Start an older close in the previous quarter.

  • Delete the latest monthly close.

This triggers the quarterly close cycle.

Example

πŸ‘† This quarterly client has a 05 '25 close open. We want to see Q2 '25 instead πŸ‘†

  1. Create a close for March 2025 (end of Q1)

  2. Delete the May close

  3. Refresh the page

  4. Create the Q2 '25 close
