How quickly does Double sync to QuickBooks / Xero?

Double has a two-way sync with both QuickBooks and Xero, supporting both reading and writing transactions.

Reading data (QuickBooks / Xero β†’ Double)

The latest transactions from QuickBooks and Xero are always reflected upon page refresh. Any changes made in the accounting software will appear in Double immediately after refreshing.

Writing data (Double β†’ QuickBooks / Xero)

Changes sync instantly. When a transaction or vendor is updated, the row turns orange while syncing, then green once complete, accompanied by a "Transaction saved!" confirmation message.

To verify a change, click the transaction's date to open it directly in QuickBooks / Xero.

Can one QuickBooks file be connected to multiple Double practices?

Intuit's API only allows one app connection per client file. Connecting a client to a second practice will switch the app admin, breaking the first firm's connection (and vice versa).

The solution is for both practices to be connected under the same Intuit user.

To set this up, one firm temporarily adds the other firm's user to their Double account, allowing that user to establish connections for both practices. Once Double is connected, the user who originally connected it is the "App Administrator" in QuickBooks.

Notes:

  • All changes made in either Double account will appear in QuickBooks as made by the App Administrator.

  • If the App Administrator's QuickBooks account is ever suspended, Double will need to be reconnected in each practice, establishing a new App Administrator.
