How quickly does Double sync to QuickBooks / Xero?

How quickly does Double sync to QuickBooks / Xero?

Double has a two-way sync with both QuickBooks and Xero, meaning you can both read and write transactions in our platform.

Reading data from QuickBooks / Xero to Double

Whenever you refresh the page in Double, you'll always see the latest transactions from QuickBooks and Xero. So if you've made changes in your accounting software, you'll see those in Double as soon as you refresh the page.

Writing data from Double to QuickBooks / Xero

Writing data to QuickBooks / Xero happens instantly. As soon as you change a transaction or vendor, the row will change to orange, which means it's in the process of syncing.

Once the sync has completed, the row will change to green, and you'll see a notification that says "Transaction saved!"

You can confirm your change by clicking the transaction's date, which will open that transaction in a new tab in QuickBooks / Xero.

Heads up! If you click the date to open the transaction in QuickBooks, make sure you're logged into the right client file (for example: in the case of this screenshot, DemoCo).

FAQs

Can one QuickBooks file be connected to multiple Double practices?

Intuit's QuickBooks API only allows one connection of an app per client. If you try to connect a client to Double when another practice is already connected, you’ll be warned that the app admin will be switched. You can proceed, but this will break the other firm’s connection, and they can trigger the same issue when they reconnect.

The fix is for the same Intuit user to connect the client to both practices. This keeps both connections active without breaking either one. To do this, one firm needs to temporarily invite the other firm’s user to their Double account so that user can establish the connection. Otherwise, Intuit will continue switching the app admin and breaking the integration.

Once one firm adds the other as a user in Double (or vice versa), that user can connect both practices and everything will stay synced.

Note:

  • All changes made in Double will appear in QuickBooks as made by the Administrator.

  • If the App Administrator’s QuickBooks account is ever suspended, Double will need to be reconnected.
