1) Go to where the domain is hosted
If there is a question of where the domain is hosted, double check on Google Dig:
Go to Google Dig
Click on NS
Copy/paste the business' website
2) Configure the CNAME record
Setting up a custom domain for the Client Portal requires adding a CNAME record to the DNS that points to Double's proxy server.
This is what allows a link like clients.mypracticename.com to host content from Double.
CNAME setup instructions
Go to the DNS host. This is typically where the domain was purchased (e.g., GoDaddy) or where the website is hosted (e.g., Wix). Not sure where that is? Use Google Dig — select NS, paste the website URL, and the provider will appear in the results.
Add a CNAME record with the following:
Host/Name: clients (this can be customized)
Data/Value: small-water-8854.fly.dev (required)
Reach out via in-app chat with the generated URL (e.g., clients.mypracticename.com) so it can be activated in Double.
If no URL is generated, send the value entered in Step 2a along with the website URL.
