Consolidations (Beta)

Combined Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet for clients with related companies — account mapping, elimination rules, and publishing to the client portal.

Consolidations lets you produce a combined Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet for clients with related companies — directly from the Close page, with account mapping, elimination rules, and publishing to the client portal.

Availability: Beta, for QuickBooks Online clients on the Scale plan. To join the beta, sign up here and we'll enable it for your practice.

Before you start

  • All companies in a consolidation must be QuickBooks Online clients in Double.

  • You need access to every company you want to include.

  • Companies appear in the picker if they're already set up as associated companies — the same relationship Double uses for intercompany transfers and balances. You can add more during setup.

Step 1: Add a consolidated report

  1. Open the Close page for the company you want to host the consolidation.

  2. Scroll to the Final Review section and click Add report.

  3. Choose Consolidated Profit & Loss or Consolidated Balance Sheet.

Step 2: Choose the companies to include

On the configuration screen, check each company to include. The host company is always included and can't be unchecked.

If a company isn't listed, click Manage associated companies to add it, then save — it will appear in the list. Click Create when you're done.

You can change the included companies at any time from the top of the consolidation page.

Step 3: Map accounts

The consolidation page shows the close status of each included company, followed by Account mapping — a single consolidated chart of accounts that every company's accounts roll up into.

  • Accounts that still need mapping are shown in orange. Map each one to an existing consolidated account, or create a new one.

  • To create a consolidated account, click Add consolidated account, enter a name, choose the account type, and optionally select a parent account.

  • Use the toggle to switch between Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss accounts.

Step 4: Add elimination rules

Elimination rules remove intercompany activity so it doesn't inflate the consolidated totals.

  • Account-level rules net two accounts against each other — for example, a due-to and due-from pair between companies on the Balance Sheet.

  • Transaction-level rules (Profit & Loss only) eliminate specific transactions by vendor or customer name — for example, when one company bills another for shared rent or payroll.

Rules are saved once and apply to every future close.

Step 5: Review the report

The consolidated report shows one column per company, an Eliminations column, and the Consolidated total.

Expand any account to the payee level. Vendors or customers with the exact same name across companies appear as a single line, with each company's amount in its own column.

Step 6: Publish to the client portal

  1. Go to the Reporting tab. Your consolidated reports appear under Interactive Financials.

  2. If any accounts with amounts are still unmapped, you'll see a warning. Map them from this screen, or return to the Final Review section.

  3. Publish the consolidated Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet with your other interactive reports.

FAQ

Can I include Xero or Sage Intacct clients?
Not yet — the beta supports QuickBooks Online clients only.

Does the host company matter?
The host company is where the consolidation lives and where you'll manage mapping and rules. It's always included in the report.

Do I have to redo mapping every close?
No. Account mapping and elimination rules carry forward. You'll only be prompted when a company adds a new account that hasn't been mapped.

Why are two vendors showing as separate lines?
Payees only combine when the names match exactly across companies. Check for spelling or punctuation differences in QuickBooks.
