When you use Double's AI features, Double sends relevant information to the model providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google).
Double does not train any models on customer data, and the model providers are prohibited from training on Double's API usage under the commercial terms governing our accounts.
The model providers can retain data for short periods of time (typically 30 days, up to 55 days for Google) for abuse monitoring.
Double uses the models through their commercial terms and paid plans.
Anthropic
Anthropic’s Commercial Terms of Service (which govern the use of their API keys) explicitly state they may not train models on Customer Content.
As detailed in section B (emphasis added):
As between the parties and to the extent permitted by applicable law, Anthropic agrees that Customer (a) retains all rights to its Inputs, and (b) owns its Outputs. Anthropic disclaims any rights it receives to the Customer Content under these Terms. Subject to Customer’s compliance with these Terms, Anthropic hereby assigns to Customer its right, title and interest (if any) in and to Outputs. Anthropic may not train models on Customer Content from Services. “Inputs” means submissions to the Services by Customer or its Users and “Outputs” means responses generated by the Services to Inputs (Inputs and Outputs together are “Customer Content”).
OpenAI
OpenAI’s Services Agreement (which governs use of their API) states they will not use customer data for training unless their customers explicitly agree to such use. Double does not agree to this use.
As detailed in section 4.2 (emphasis added):
4.2. OpenAI Obligations. OpenAI will only use Customer Content as necessary to provide Customer with the Services, comply with applicable law, enforce the OpenAI Policies, and prevent abuse. OpenAI will not use Customer Content to develop or improve the Services, unless Customer explicitly agrees to such use.
This screenshot below shows our settings as they relate to usage of our data (all model feedback is disabled).
Google’s API Terms of Service and Gemini API Additional Terms of Service explicitly state that they do not train models on customer data for paid plans (Double uses Google's Paid Services).
As detailed in How Google Uses Your Data (emphasis added):
When you use Paid Services, including, for example, the paid quota of the Gemini API, Google doesn't use your prompts (including associated system instructions, cached content, and files such as images, videos, or documents) or responses to improve our products, and will process your prompts and responses in accordance with the Data Processing Addendum for Products Where Google is a Data Processor. For Paid Services, Google logs prompts and responses for a limited period of time, solely for detecting and preventing violations of the Prohibited Use Policy to maintain the safety and security of the Services, and any required legal or regulatory disclosures. This data may be stored transiently or cached in any country in which Google or its agents maintain facilities.
